Biography of Olivia Munn

Olivia Munn was born on July 2, 1982, in Oklahoma. Her parents divorced while she was still a toddler, and Olivia was soon forced to adopt a nomadic existence after her mother married a man in the Air Force. Although the clan moved from base to base, Olivia spent the majority of her adolescence in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, Japan. Olivia’s passion for the entertainment world has been in place virtually since childhood, and the would-be performer took her first steps toward a career in the spotlight by appearing in a number of local theater productions.

Olivia Munn’s growing confidence was cemented once she hit puberty, as the young girl soon found herself blessed with the sort of looks that cause men to stop and stare. She parlayed her beauty into a burgeoning career as a model within the Japanese fashion industry, though it became increasingly clear to Olivia that she wanted to do more with her life than just pose for the cameras. To that end, Olivia moved to Los Angeles in 2004, and began to look for work within the entertainment industry.

Olivia Munn had only been in La La Land for a short while when she landed an internship at FOX Sports, and -- after impressing her bosses with her drive and passion for on-camera work -- it wasn’t long before Olivia landed a job as a sideline sports reporter. Olivia also remained a fixture on the auditioning circuit, though she didn’t make a whole lot of progress in terms of finding substantial roles. However, Olivia Munn did make her film debut in 2004 as “Girl No. 1” in the straight-to-video horror flick Scarecrow Gone Wild, which she followed up a year later with The Road to Canyon Lake.

Following her internship at FOX Sports, Olivia Munn seamlessly segued into a gig as the host of G4’s Attack of the Show program (her predecessors, Sarah Lane and Brendan Moran, left the show to get married). She made her debut in April 2006, to mostly positive reviews, though some fans cynically assumed that she had been hired just for her looks. Olivia quickly won over her detractors, however, with her quick wit and self-deprecating attitude, and -- along with her Attack of the Show cohost, Kevin Pereira -- she has been a fixture on the G4 website thanks to her daily appearances on the Around the Net podcast.

Attack of the Show!
In 2006, Munn moved on to the G4 network, where she began co-hosting Attack of the Show! with Kevin Pereira on April 10, 2006. She was replacement for host Sarah Lane, who left the show along with Brendan Moran to get married. The network, devoted to the world of video games and the video game lifestyle, was at first hesitant to hire Munn. Although she admits video games were her "weak point", she was confident in her technical knowledge. On the show, Munn is featured with journalist Anna David in a segment of the program called "In Your Pants", which deals with sex and relationship questions from viewers. While working on Attack of the Show!, Munn hosted Formula D, a now defunct program about American drift racing, and an online podcast called Around the Net (formerly known as The Daily Nut), for G4.

Olivia Munn’s passion for performance hasn’t been silenced, either. She remains an active presence on the auditioning circuit, and her hard work has certainly paid off with her key role in the 2007 comedy Big Stan (alongside Rob Schneider, Jennifer Morrison and Melanie Lynskey).
