Her professional acting career began in 2001, when she appeared on the Disney TV series The Famous Jett Jackson. Her next project was a lead role in the short-lived TV series, Shotgun Love Dolls (2001), followed by a small role in an episode of Earth: Final Conflict (2002). Her portfolio expanded with projects such as My Name Is Tanino (2002), Perfect Pie (2002), The Hot Chick (2002), the Canadian television series Slings and Arrows (2003), The Notebook (2004), and Mean Girls (2004). The latter two were standout performances and solidified her up-and-coming status in Hollywood.

Rachel costarred with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in the 2005 summer hit Wedding Crashers. And in 2005, she kept busy with a role in the thriller Red Eye (directed by Wes Craven) and with a role alongside Claire Danes, Sarah Jessica Parker and Diane Keaton in The Family Stone. All this is proof that this beautiful northern fox has established herself in Hollywood's upper echelon.

There was a rumor in 2007 that Rachel was asked to play the romantic lead in the Ironman, but that role went to Gwyneth Paltrow.
